So today whilst checking our water supplies in the lab for sterility, I decided to perform a little experiment on myself. Shown above is the result.

X= Thumbprint after ordinary hand usage while at work.

1= Thumbprint after a 15 second wash with hand-soap.

2= Thumbprint after 15 second Soap wash followed by a douse with 70% ethanol (allowed to dry)

The "spots" are bacterial colonies. As you can see, the difference is staggering <.<

WTF, so much for "clean hands".

As a side note, it turns out the ultra ultra pure water we pay buckets to have is in fact sterile, as is the tap water from the sink. Nice to know.

What can I say, it's been a boring day.

Assuming you work in a medical lab I'd think they keep things pretty clean in there. Try seeing what things look like if you worked in a hospital or doctor's office all day, or worse an elementary school

Well, considering that the number of cells in our body is among the trillions and it is estimated that there are around 10000 times more bacterial cells than human cells in our body I don't find it surprising.

My boss understood plane as day, this particular study. Your claim that I have committed some crime against humanity by misusing taxed funds is akin to accusing me of treason. That is just preposterous. I improved the behavior of my lab by observing thier defects. You are just posting as CNN does and look what that brought them.

I think sarcasm is overrated. People have come to expect sarcasm so much that they get lots of false positives, making it hard to have any kind of honest communication between people who disagree.

I have friends who wash their hands constantly because they are afraid of germs, and it makes me laugh. Especially when I never get sick, but they're constantly sick.

^I've read "scientists" are attributing the increase of asthma in people to a lack of exposure to bacteria. Our clean freak moms could be to blame. Our immune systems have kept the human species alive for 200,000 years, so it makes sense that denying it bacteria to fight, it could react negatively against good cells in your body. It's like a bored teenager waiting to rebel.
