Worst. Game release. EVER.
Words can not even begin to describe how much of a pile of shit this game is. I've looked forward to this game for months. It was supposed to change the way we see games. And for me it did. I will now never buy a game upon release for fear of being stuck with the world's biggest pile of shit.
AAhhh, Crysis... Worst fucking release ever. When it works, it works great. It's a masterpiece. But it never works.
Nothing but trouble ALL day. I've had to call Tech Support six times already.
The first time I started the game, it rendered my cursor 300 pixels right and 100 pixels down of where it was reading it - in other words, if I wanted to click a menu button, I had to move my cursor over two inches and down one.
Second: While playing the game, the performance suddenly drops to about 5 frames per second. Dropping my graphics to nil does nothing to solve. Restart the game, graphics to High, works fine again(for now).
Third: changing anti-aliasing automatically causes the game to crash. Every time.
Fourth: While playing, I turn around to find my arms floating in mid-air. It was as if I was staring at myself, only all I could see were my arms. I saved it and restarted the game.
Fifth: Upon loading the game again, it places me inside a tank. It was as if I had used no clip to walk through it's side, then turned clipping on again. I was stuck. Couldn't move at all. So I reloaded my save.
Sixth: Upon reloading, it places me about 100 feet in the air, and of course I fall to my death.
Seventh: I reload again to find myself on top of the tank. I jump off, go around a wall, and all the sudden I get strange colored triangles all over my screen. Nothing I do gets rid of them, so I close the game. Well, Crysis sucks so bad, it kept those triangles on my desktop. Eighth: The game starts stuttering EVERY sound it produces. Even a restart doesn't solve it.
Ninth: I've now come to a part in the game where it starts to lag. Yes, a single player game is lagging. How the fuck is that even possible? I press the forward key only to find that when I move forward ten feet, I move back five, teleport forward 20, and end up in front of the business end of a North Korean rifle.
In one of my calls to them, just to let them know how fucked up the game is, I had a guy tell me he found my problem. "Great!" I said to myself. "What is it?"
And here's how it went down. (This is about to get all Verizon .002cents =.002 dollars)
TS: "Well, after looking at the minimum requirements for this game, I've found that your processor doesn't meet them.
MG: "Ummm... what?"
TS: "Well, the minimum requirement is a 3.6GHz processor and your's is only 2.4GHz"
MG: "Yes, I have a Core 2 Duo at 2.4GHz, which far surpasses the requirements."
TS: "No, sir, you need a 3.6GHz"
MG: "Sir, that 3.6 is for the older generation of Intel processors, the Pentium 4s. What you're telling me is that I need a 3.6GHz processor with two cores, which would cost thousands of dollars."
TS: "Well, you need a better processor."
MG: "What you're telling me is wrong. Please connect me to your supervisor."
So after some startled stuttering, he did. When I got a hold of him, I told him what I had just discussed and that he needs to "school his techs in what the differences of generations of processors are."
Then he told me to send in my DxDiag information, which I had already done several times. I then asked for his work email address so I could send it straight to him. And more lovely dialog occurred.
TS: "Well, sir, we don't have a personal email account from work."
MG: "I find that hard to believe. You mean to tell me that employees at your company don't have individual email accounts? Especially supervisors? It would have been one thing for you to say that you're not allowed to give it out, but to say you don't have one is hard to believe."
TS: "...Well, we can't give it out."
MG: "So you DID lie to me? That's unacceptable. Please connect me to your supervisor."
TS: "Err, umm, uhh, they probably won't be there."
MG: "I don't care. Try it."
From there, I talked to his supervisor and told him what happened with the last two people, and what my problems are. Of course, there's still no solution to my problems.
Even dropping ALL options to minimum doesn't resolve them.
And since you don't know, here are my system specs (the ones that matter):
Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 2.4GHz processor
4GB RAM
GeForce 8800GTS TDH with 640MB of RAM
So I should be MORE than able to play this game.
In short, don't buy this fucking game.

Also, when it does work, you're right. It's absolutely breath-taking. But I've actually had less play time than game-works-shitty play time.
Also, I didn't call tech support for answers. I knew they wouldn't be able to give me any. I just called them because 1)I wanted to let them know that their game is FUCKED UP and 2)I wanted someone to yell at.
Like Animals said, I love messing with hardware. Even if it's just disassembling my computer just to clean the dust out, I get just as much enjoyment as the day I got the parts in the mail and put it all together.
Tomorrow I will be calling back and I plan on going up the chain of supervisors until I get to the V.P of EA games demanding a refund or a free copy of COD.
If I were troubleshooting your issue, my gut tells me to test your RAM first. That's the only hardware problem I can think of that could cause such a bizarre array of problems. Even if your RAM is defect-free, I'd double check that it's proper spec for your motherboard... especially if you're using a "matched pair" setup.
My suspicion, however, is that your problem is with a device driver or Windows itself; either a Vista-specific issue, or one of those universal Windows-is-mucked-up issues that we all end up with eventually. Once I was confident the RAM was good, I'd go for the fresh install.

As I'm sure you've read people are getting better frame rates (and less troubles) out of Win Xp with DX9 (enhanced, check my vid) than Vista

EA games are great.... on paper.
Take the X-Box 360, it's obviously great... but not if you had a hardware failure.
This isn't the leading edge of next generation games, it's the BLEEDING Edge.... to cause frustration, misery and gnashing of teeth.
Marine Gunrocks experience went like this:
Tech support asks if he has the newest processor, and If he doesn't they aren't responsible.
They pass the buck.... and use the information and training they have to intimidate the user. All too familiar to any American consumer.
Gunrock, you might try underclocking yer vid card and see if that helps.

Runs great although at times when certain smoke effects are going on it can get a little frame hiccuping every now and then depending on the density.
From the screenshot you posted I'd say your video card is dying. Likely either the GPU or the video RAM is overheating. Try a different video card.
I don't have your kind of problems, but Crysis is the first game in a long time that has caused my computer to hang or reboot without warning. I'm thinking it might be pushing my power supply beyond limits. This is the only game that causes my video card coolers to spin up to maximum. I'm gonna put it aside until Crytek releases a patch and ATI releases a new video driver.

The guy probably "lied" to you because you were being self-righteous. Demanding his personal e-mail is like demanding his cell phone #. That address doesn't exist to serve you and he is not obliged to share it with you. Stepping outside of procedure like that creates huge inefficiencies when you're dealing with large call volumes. A lot of people who have to deal with the public learn to tell little white lies so as to avoid wasting time, and hearing undue sanctimony from the bleating morons who call up to dish some abuse. I'd love to do a quick poll of people who have worked in customer support and see who'd be willing to give a complainant their personal contact information, even if it's work-based.
You assume the most demanding game ever released is not causing heat problems just because your fans are on max at all times... well maybe you are wearing the damn fans out, maybe the stock cooler on your video card is not up to the task, etc. Like I said before, this is the only game that causes my video fans to spin up to maximum, so obviously it causes more heat due to rendering load than other games. I can play TF2, HL2, etc.. all day at 2560x1600 and the fans never spin up... play Crysis for 20 seconds at 1680X1050 and both cards have spun up to maximum...
Try a different video card. If you're broke, just buy a fast card on credit and return it after you've diagnosed the problem. I've experienced the problem in your screenshot, and some of the problems in your list before, and it was due to the video card hardware being basically borked. In one case the cooling fan stopped spinning, which caused heat damage due to overclocking, and in another there was a bad capacitor on the card. At any rate, there is just something about the tone of your post that really rubs me the wrong way.
And just in case you were wondering, my GPU does heat up to about 10 degrees higher than when idle, but that should be expected.
ALSO: As soon as I entered the cave, my frame rates boosted up to normal, all on high settings, and even now after I've left the caves and boarded the carrier. So, hardware problem, or software problem? I'd definitely say the latter.
That's actually a lot like what Far Cry did back in yesteryear - basically it was two different games, outdoors and indoors. But that's solely because there is much less to render on the indoor stages - everthing behind the walls arn't touche by your videocard,as karaidl already said.
Or it could be something wonky in the hardware. Ah, the joys (and madness) of PC troubleshooting.
For some reason, Installshield (of all things!) went bork on me this summer. Something got corrupted and I couldn't install old games. Irritating as hell.
Oddly enough, I think it was the Bioshock installer which "fixed" Installshield for me. Good luck googling a solution like that for yourself.
Second, I have never worked in TS or Cs but believe me i have made PLENTY of calls to them. And yes, being a dick can get you FAR. So long as your polite and well spoken about it. Ill put it to you like this: Ive made people cry over the phone. Never once did i insult, yell, or berate the individual. But i got what i wanted. Yeah TS are people to. People who are there to draw a paycheck and could give two fucks if your happy.
And yes, i have gotten personal work emails from CS before. from the person that picked up the phone, nonetheless, not even a manager.
IF the game sucks that much ass, and THAT many people have issues with it, then product testing did not do their job, and i would demand a refund.
