The first blog I ever read regularly was this excellent photo weblog called Hunkabutta. I followed a young Canadian family's life as they adjusted to living in Japan. It had really great, quirky photos of the Tokyo area and slice-of-life anecdotes about fitting in to the culture. A couple of years ago, the story ended with the family moving back to British Columbia and I stopped visiting.

Although it was a one-way vicarious experience, I really connected with the family and felt like I knew them. So, on a whim I visited the site again today and it was a blow to the gut to read in the comments that they had divorced and were with new partners. I didn't expect to feel bad about it - but I did.

Yeah, that life thing comes out of nowhere.

There was this kid girl from Norway who used to have wallflower.nu. She started it when she was still a little brat and it was always a bright spot in my day to pop in there and see what she was up to. So precocious. She changed her name and was going to be a web designer. She changed her website every other week or so.

Then, she grew up.

I think she broke up with her boyfriend and now she's going to be a teacher. Everything seems like it's going to be fine in her life, but that hopeful, dreamy, slightly bratty kid is gone and now she's a young adult, a little cynical and already tired of the work-a-day grind.

Ever feel like every thing you do is scripted?

public class DailyGrind extends World implements Body
{
  public DailyGrind() throws Redundancy Exception
  {
    //TODO: REWRITE THIS CRAP, WITH SOME POLYMORPHISM. ITS GETTING OLD
    SameOldSameOld();
  }
}

I spend a lot of time doing martial arts, and repetitive motion. After a while my body can do these things subconsciously leaving my conscious mind free and empty. Its a pleasant escape, but now and then I catch myself. I stop and look down at my training gloves, and say how long was I ...

Its kind of scary actually.

Its like that commute to work? Some people just cant take it, doing the same shit over and over. The same not fun shit.

At least with video games, sifting, stuff like that, your brain enjoys it.
