We've closed Dwigger effective immediately. After a nice initial splash in the media - traffic kind of dried up. Rather than let it turn into a spam link dump we decided to shut it down.
I would have taken some credit if Dwigger had been a smashing success - so I feel I must take the blame for the failed idea. I thought that voting for Tweets would be a slam-dunk - something vitally missing from the huge galaxy of Twitter content. The 'net thought otherwise. Traffic collapsed and we couldn't justify the cost of the dedicated server or time anymore.
Truth be told, even I didn't spend much time there - though I think it has something to do with my neural pathways being so seared for VideoSift only URLs.
Something I took away from the experience is that it's not that easy to start a successful web community - and the chances of catching lightening in a bottle twice are not that great.
That doesn't mean we're giving up on new projects - we have something special coming down the pipe that is not our project per se - but supports another very successful site.
VaroCMS is a one of a kind community platform and we're getting a lot of inquiries for other kinds of sites. Stay tuned.
Anyway - if you did use Dwigger - (DotDude, Maatc and others) thanks for showing up.

Rather THAN. Not then.
Sorry to hear that, dag. I thought it was a great idea. I think you should revel in the success you created with VideoSift and feel very proud of that. And... yeah, it's still "than" not then. They're two different words with two separate meanings. Just saying. </dick>
Alzheimer's ... or maybe chanling my inur Westy.
It takes a lot to just let go of something that you both put so much work in, so I admire you for being able to pull the plug like that.
I am sure something else will come up, and it`s not exactly like you are short on work either...

How is the escalopter community?
Seems quite slow on updates, maybe I should go for a christmas spin?
I just use Messenger profile messages to express myself. I do like the idea of dwigger, but the twitter requirement scared me off.
and don't just blame the concept... maybe it the execution was lacking too
@kommie: dwigger's following you didn't make anything you tweeted get posted to dwigger. To add a post to dwigger you had to either explicitly post on the dwigger site or send a direct message to the dwigger account at twitter.
I'm sad to see Dwigger go.
I used it for a while, then didn't keep up with it. just recently went on again and ALL i could find were links to different programs and websites and shit. it sucked. sorry, nice try tho.
How is the escalopter community?
as someone who predicted this i feel it is now necessary to say i told you so.

You are such a misunderstood genius Mink. If only people understood your brilliance.
(*warning: run-on sentence ahead*)
I tried dwigger, but I signed up for twitter just to do so, which I had never heard of, and because I have a really narrow field of focus on the internet (otherwise the room starts spinning) I only went back a couple of times... then, I am embarrased to say, I actually forgot all about it because I like perusing videosift, facebook, and my email which is about all I can handle.
Again, very sorry to hear of your loss.
*hug*
@mink: How very classy of you.

Oh... well too late now I guess
