Help Yourself To One Of My Ribs

Several hundred thousand stars packed into a ball.

M13

From Wikipedia:

" M13, the Great Globular Cluster in Hercules (also known as the Hercules Globular Cluster, Messier Object 13, Messier 13, M13, or NGC 6205) is a globular cluster in the Hercules constellation . "

This light travelled for 25,000 years before being captured. I took 42 exposures of 20 seconds each and stacked them to increase the signal of this faint object.

Imagine living on a planet orbiting around one of these stars. What would the night sky look like?

Ha! With a rocking chair to boot! Awesome. I would love to be able to mount my camera to something like that.

Sounds good... we could mount it right where that black plate is there. Just bolt it on and let it go and it will get perfect point stars for hours.

HA! I'll be in Anchorage on the 1st... so if you hear someone messing around out there, don't be too worried. I promise I'll be careful!

"Two of em were between my legs."

Yes, she said she catalogued them as the "smallest clusters yet discovered in the universe."

So, on the sidebar of my profile page, under 'navigation' there's a link called *promoted blog posts. What's that all about, then?

Thanks hey I've been, emmm,(gandalf to frodo voice) occupied... didnt know you guys were talking behind my back.. I've been whipping up a new image too since I've been milking the darkness for all its worth as its disappearing big time in a week or two. I've been pointing the telescope at M94, which is a spiral galaxy 14.5 million light years away, and M65 which is a cool looking galaxy with a nice huge ring of dust about 35 million light yrs distant.
